Abstract

This project was created to integrate learning standards in social justice, Washington State Art Disciplines and childrenā€™s literacy. This project highlights meaningful activities integrating a widely-acclaimed anti-bias text, The Day You Begin by Jacqueline Woodson, to help children in celebrating who they are and what makes them unique. Integrating the Art Disciplines into this will help them to celebrate not just their uniqueness but also the uniqueness of their friends and classmates.

  1. The rationale tied to the social justice standards was clear.
    You provided examples for several of the categories of dance, media arts, music, theater, and visual arts. I also liked the way you incorporated the Native American dances into this project and the travel poster assignment! šŸ™‚
